This piece is on permanent display at the head offices of Calthorpe Estates in Birmingham.

It was a small piece from an off-cut where I was still exploring marble as a material. The thinness of the off-cut also was a bit limiting in my options for adapting the form as I went along. I think the marble was Arni marble as it had orange veining rather than the usual grey Carrara veining, but I could not be certain of it.

Its original nickname was ' flatbrain ' but a friend commented on how it looked like some kind of bud, so I changed it, thinking  this would be a more stylish name to present to clients.
