This carving started as a kind of anti-violence statement, using the flip 'fingers-as-gun' gesture.

I liked the gesture as a strong expression of the physical arm/hand, but contrasting with a facile meaning. As with all my work, hopefully it is open to other interpretations as well. My continuing motivation is to explore the communication of fleeting human gestures through the extremely painstaking and laborious process of capturing their complex three-dimensional form.
