Hornito 1998 Indian green granite 10 x 15 x 20 cm FOR SALE

A hornito is a type of horn-shaped lava flow form, which seemed appropriate for this igneous rock piece that developed a horn of its own. I also dusted it with white marble dust, the correct term for which is 'kiboshing', I think.
This is one sculpture I am happy with in that it looks like a rock form that has been shaped by the elements over a long time, whereas in fact it is carved from a square block. The fact that it has no real distinct arrangement of forms is in its favour as it makes it appear less contrived. I remember spending a lot of time on this one, 80 hours +, I don't think I could have carved into it any more without the complete rock falling apart .
