Maybe partly motivated by my car-crash experience in 2007, this was an attempt to tap into the psychology of cars in relation to aggression, violence and consumerism. I liked the symmetry and sculptural properties of a discarded wheel trim I found, the symmetry of course being violated through damage from a careless driver. I thought this mundane artefact would translate well into a carved wooden sculpture, so I more-or-less accurately translated the plastic original into this carving. There is some licence in that I didn't carve to the very thin thickness of the original and it is larger than actual size, but I do feel the chisel marks on the damaged parts do add to the concept of the sculpture.
